“The Buddha’s light permeates the great chiliocosm,
Venerable Master Hsing Yun, founder of Fo Guang Shan, has honored his Buddhist devotees by establishing a new Buddhist temple in Honolulu -- Fo Guang Shan-Hawaii. This is, indeed, a great blessing in the Buddhist communities both locally and globally.
During the time of Sakyamuni Buddha, two major events -- the construction of Jetavana Monastery and also the laying of foundation in the White Horse Monastery when sutras were transported to Loyang -- embodied the splendor and glory of Buddha and his followers. The legacy continues today with the construction of Fo Guang Shan-Hawaii and is an equally rare opportunity to come by. With a main shrine holding arts, lecture halls, a meditation hall, a “Water Drop” Teahouse, community education center, conference room, guest lodging and monastic residences. Fo Guang Shan-Hawaii will effectuate the multi-functions of a modern Buddhist temple. As a result, the mission of propagating of Humanistic Buddhism and the creation of a "Pureland" in Hawaii will be realized for ALL!
